STRecruiting: Clemson fills their need at shortstop with one of the best from the Sun Belt in Tyler Lichtenberger

SS Tyler Lichtenberger is headed to Clemson (Appalachian State Athletics)

With Andrew Cifuo out of eligibility to play shortstop at Clemson, Tigers head coach Erik Bakich went into the Transfer Portal and landed a more than suitable replacement. Tyler Lichtenberger, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, committed to the Tigers, according to broadcaster Isaac Edelman.

Lichtenberger is a native of Boca Raton, FL who had a sensational freshman season with the Mountaineers. He led the team with a .341 batting average. He had three homers, 27 RBIs, drew 18 walks and stole seven bases in nine attempts. He committed a dozen errors for a .943 fielding percentage.

Lichtenberger is the second announced transfer to Clemson from another major program for the 2025 class.
