STRecruiting: Hard-throwing right-hander Elijah Foster is transferring to South Carolina

Despite the numbers, USC liked what they saw of Elijah Foster when he pitched against them (Sacred Heart Athletics)

Sacred Heart RHP Elijah Foster committed to South Carolina Friday, according to Northeast-based baseball writer Brian Recca.. In two seasons at Sacred Heart, Foster was 10-4 with a 4.91 ERA.

He struck out 156 in 132 innings, and teams hit .216 against him. He did walk 101, hit 24 and had 19 wild pitches. He only allowed 11 homers.

Foster started the second game of the season against the Gamecocks and lasted three innings. He allowed nine runs, six of them earned, and walked six.

Foster recovered from that outing and went on to a 5-3 record with a 5.23 ERA. He struck out 75 in 72.1 innings. He gave up 53 walks, hit 12 and uncorked ten wild pitches.

Foster is the fourth right-handed pitcher the Gamecocks have picked up from the Transfer Portal this offseason.
