Timberland OT Desmond Green (6-4 325) is hitting the final stretch of his recruitment. This week coaches from Florida and North Carolina have been in to see him. South Carolina offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley told him during a phone call this week that he will be in to see him this month during his spring practice.

“We were just talking about camps and stuff, nothing like committing now,” Green said.  “It was a casual, little conversation.  I think most of the schools are just waiting for me to come on my official visits.  South Carolina is pressing hard for my official visit and getting me up there to see what they are about.”

Green has been a multi-time visitor to the USC campus. His most recent stop was for the spring game on April 18th. He did have the chance to chat with head coach Shane Beamer.

“It was a quick dap up before a game, a quick what’s up,” Green said.  “He said he was glad I could make it and happy to see you back here.”

Green made his first official visit early last month to Virginia Tech.

“It was actually pretty nice,” Green said.  “Before going into it I didn’t know what we would be doing on an official visit.  Any other time we’ve been over there, they’ve treated us like family, given us a warm reception.  It was great overall.”

Green has four official visits set for June. He’ll be at Georgia the first weekend followed in order by Oklahoma, Florida and South Carolina.

“At this point with the schools I’m going to visit, we’ve already seen enough of football like player development,” Green said.  “Me and my parents are trying to figure out who is going to be the best fit for me, what can the school do for me.  It’s where do I see myself playing at really, that’s what we’re trying to figure out.  All the visits we’ve got lined up right now, we’ve already established that it’s good people that I will be surrounded by no matter what school I choose out of these official visits.  It’s just those other things that we’re trying to figure out right now, check these boxes before it’s all said and done.”

As he gets closer to the end, with a decision coming in late July or August, Green is starting to separate the stop schools from the rest.

“I’ve got some favorites in my head but I can’t put nothing out there,” Green said.  “There are three that stick out more than others to me right now.”
