STRecruiting: South Carolina made the early move with DT Noah Clark, and that might payoff later

South Carolina identified DT Noah Clark (6-3 290) of Durham as an SEC level talent early on. In fact, the Gamecocks were the first to offer him. As a result, they are very much in the mix with him as he moves forward with some spring visits and official visits starting in April.

“They make me feel like I’m big on their board,” Clark said.  “That was my first offer and always holds a special place in my heart.  They’ve been contacting me so much about this recruiting class, and just having great conversations with them, talking about ball and also talking about real life.  It’s been great talking with them and getting to know them more and can’t wait to get back on campus and just see everything again.”

Clark has yet to determine any spring visits though another visit to USC for the spring game is possible. He estimated he’s made six visits with the Gamecocks already. He and defensive line coach Travian Robertson have obviously hit it off big, and he knows Robertson likes a lot about him and his game.

“First off it’s my personality I would say,” Clark said.  “Getting him to know me as a person, I’m a hard worker with all those good traits.  Also, he likes my size and how I use my size, and I can move.  If you watch the film for their D-line, it’s all about movement and rushing the passer.  That’s what he likes about me, how I get after it and have a high motor.”

Clark certainly moves well. Last season he had 78 tackles with 18.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Creating havoc up front is what he loves to do, and he sees that as well with the Gamecock defense.

“They are huge on turnovers, and I love it,” Clark said.  “They have just so much energy and passion on their defense, and just so much excitement.  Seeing that and seeing if I can fit myself in there is really big to see.”

While he hasn’t planned any spring visits so far, Clark is set on his official visits. Virginia will be first up on April 25th. Next will come the summer tour with Duke May 30th, USC June 6th, Virgina Tech June 13th and NC State June 20th. In the past, Clark has mentioned Notre Dame for an official visit in June, but he did not mention the Irish when reciting his visits.

Clark also has offers from Michigan, Missouri, Maryland, LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Stanford and others. He said he does not have a favorite and there is no timeline for a decision.
