AP voters must be getting bored with the run of runaway wins by Clemson. The Tigers had moved up after each of their first four wins in this five-game winning streak. They even advanced one spot off their open week. But not this week despite the 35-point win at Wake Forest.
Clemson remained 10th in this week’s AP Top 25 poll with a total of 980 points, an increase of 39 points over last week. Six voters ranked the Tigers as high as #7 on their ballots, including ESPN’s Rece Davis. One voter gave the Tigers a low vote of 16th.
The two other national voters on the panel, Adam Zucker of CBS Sports Network and Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, each ranked Clemson 8th. South Carolina’s AP voter, Peter Yanity of WSPA-TV, ranked the Tigers 10th on his sheet.
Texas received 56 of the 62 first place votes to remain at #1. Oregon and Penn State each moved up one spot to 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ohio State fell two positions to fourth and Georgia remained at #5.
