CCU head coach Tim Beck didn’t have to apologize for his team’s performance in week one against Jacksonville State. As a matter of fact, unlike Shane Beamer and Dabo Swinney, Beck had a hard time finding anything with which to be critical.
“I was very pleased. I thought it was a very complete game in all three phases,” Beck said. “I’m not nitpicking either. At the end of the day, we trained and prepared really well. I think we expected to play that way. Felt confident to play that way and played that way. We got exactly what we earned is the way I looked at it.”
Beck held his weekly press conference on Wednesday to review last Thursday’s 55-27 win over the Gamecocks and to look forward to this Saturday’s home opener against William & Mary.
It will be the first ever contest between the Chanticleers and the Tribe, who enter this weekend’s matchup 1-0 on the season as well. William & Mary beat up on VMI 41-7 last Thursday, rolling up 446 yards of total offense in the process. Kickoff at Brooks Stadium is set for 7pm.
