Coastal Carolina football took an unexpected road trip last week as fall camp was getting into its second week. Due to Hurricane Debby, the Chanticleers left the beach and spent a couple of days in Raleigh, utilizing NC State’s football facility to conduct their workouts.
“I think it was a great deal for us,” defensive coordinator Craig Naivar explained on Tuesday. “Some of our younger guys got the experience of what it would be like to travel. Got to stay in a hotel, different place, road game mentality. So hopefully that benefits us down the road.”
Now the Chanticleers are back in their home base and continuing preparations for the season opener on August 29th at Jacksonville State, but the weather is still a bit of an issue. A pop-up thunderstorm forecast for Tuesday forced the team to work out a bit earlier than previously planned as the Chants hit the practice field before 8 a.m. Afterwards, all three coordinators were made available to the media to update the progress of preseason camp.
