Kingston feels #Gamecocks lost weekend is behind them and they’ll be ready for Tennessee (AUDIO)

South Carolina baseball coach Mark Kingston likes to keep an even keel about things. He did not get too high when his team recently won back to back SEC series over Kentucky and Missouri, and he didn’t get too low after they were swept by Georgia last weekend. He likes his players to maintain the same approach, because it’s a long season with plenty of ups and downs.

Thus, he feels his guys will be right when they open their final regular season series at top ranked Tennessee Thursday night. While the Vols are in the hunt for the SEC regular season title, the Gamecocks could use some wins to solidify their NCAA Tournament spot, and perhaps get back in the conversation as a regional host.

The Gamecocks are 33-18 overall and 13-14 in the SEC. They currently are seventh in the overall SEC standings, and if they hold that spot, they’ll play in the second game of the SEC Tournament next Tuesday in Hoover, AL. Their RPI is 19.

As for pitching plans this week, Kingston was not ready to name his rotation when he met with the media Tuesday afternoon.

  1. Carolina Sandhills

Hopefully this season and your below average coaching career here will behind us soon enough coach, and we’ll all be ready for a new skipper to make Gamecock baseball competitive once again.

  2. Have they changed the rules in baseball? If the ball is thrown over the plate , are you supposed to swing? Or get called out on strikes? Dumbasses! Kingston needs to go!
