#STRecruiting Notebook 12-13

As of late Wednesday afternoon, there had been no official word of a commitment to USC from Arkansas transfer RB Rocket Sanders. it was reported first Wednesday morning on 247Sports that Sanders would be transferring to the Gamecocks. On3Sports later reported the same. Sanders is regarded as one of the top prospects in the Portal despite an injury plagued season with the Razorbacks in which he played in just six games. It was his 2022 season that caught the attention of the nation when he rushed for over 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns, including 156 against the Gamecocks in Fayetteville.

SC State transfer RB Jawarn Howell (6-1 215) is still on his visit to USC as of late this afternoon, but he tells he has been offered by USC. Howell also has an offer from Indiana. As a true freshman this season with the Bulldogs, Howell rushed for 664 yards and seven touchdowns.

USC commitment CB Jalewis Solomon of Ellaville, GA confirmed his plans to sign with the Gamecocks next week. He posted on X that “my re recruitment is officially shut down.” He’s been committed since mid-October after decommitting from Auburn. Florida State made a strong push to turn him, and he made some visits there. The Gamecocks beat out Florida State, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Auburn for Solomon.

USC coach Shane Beamer along with secondary coach Torrian Gray, defensive coordinator Clayton White and defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas made an in-home visit with committed CB Braydon Lee of Springdale, MD Tuesday night hoping to firm up his pledge. Lee took an official visit to Maryland last weekend and told a Terps website that Maryland was still in play for him.

Clemson target Middle Tennessee transfer OL Keylan Rutledge committed to Georgia Tech.

Former Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall announced he is transferring to NC State. McCall, who is a North Carolina native, spent five seasons with the Chants and passed for 10,005 yards and 88 touchdowns. He completed 69.9% of his passes with just 14 interceptions in 1016 attempts.

The Chants picked up former Michigan State QB Noah Kim (6-2 185) from the Portal. Kim spent four seasons in East Lansing, and he appeared in ten games over the last two seasons. He passed for 1264 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions.

USC offered Alabama transfer DT Isaiah Hastings (6-4 290). He has also been offered by Cal, Houston, Michigan State, Troy, Memphis, Washington, Illinois, South Florida and Virginia Tech since entering the Portal six days ago. He did not appear in a game this season and in just one game in 2022. He’s a native of Toronto.

Former Texas A&M DL LT Overton, who visited USC last weekend will take an official visit to Alabama this weekend per 247Sports.

Cardinal Newman WR Cortez Lane committed to NC A&T.

Lexington QB Taiden Mines committed to Lenoir-Rhyne.

Gaffney QB Riley Staton plans to announce college commitment December 19th.

2025 QB Cutter Woods of Westside was offered by Syracuse.
