Beamer going back to Oklahoma as the SEC releases 2024 opponents #Gamecocks

Much like their opponent in Jacksonville, the Gamecocks will face a who’s who of CFB in 2024 (Chris Gillespie)

As if USC’s football schedule wasn’t tough enough, the SEC piled on Wednesday night. The Gamecocks learned their conference opponents in a televised schedule release, and the gauntlet is quite daunting for Shane Beamer’s club. Despite Georgia not being on Carolina’s slate for the first time since 1992, LSU will swing into Columbia as the Tigers make their first trip to Williams-Brice Stadium since October of 2008. Oh, and by the way, USC will pack its bags for Alabama and play in Tuscaloosa, something it hasn’t done in fifteen years.

And while Spencer Rattler won’t get the opportunity to face his former team, Shane Beamer will. The Gamecocks will travel to Oklahoma in 2024, meaning that USC’s head coach will get to patrol the visiting sidelines in Norman. Beamer was an assistant coach at OU for three seasons prior to being named the head coach of the Gamecocks.

The SEC is also planning to eliminate divisions in 2024 as Oklahoma and Texas become the 15th and 16th members of the league.
