The methodical approach to recruiting employed by Oceanside Collegiate OT Monroe Freeling has hit the final stages. Freeling Friday night revealed his final seven schools. As expected, Clemson is in the group and USC is not. Freeling said in an interview here as much last month that the Tigers were, and the Gamecocks were not, in play with him.
Clemson is joined in the final seven by Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Georgia and Florida. He has scheduled official visits to Notre Dame for June 10th and Miami for June 24th. He doesn’t plan to take his official visit to Clemson until the season.
With Robbie Caldwell retiring as the offensive line coach with the Tigers, Freeling has had to quickly build a relationship with new OL coach Thomas Austin. He said last month that it’s still a work in progress.
“I have a good relationship with Coach Austin,” Freeling said. I’ll probably have to develop that and grow more of a relationship with him.”
Freeling visited Clemson for a game last season and was in to watch a spring practice in March. He’s visited Notre Dame three times, including for their spring game last month. He also visited Miami and Florida in the spring.
