Sightler’s bat, Hall’s arm carry #Gamecocks past Missouri 4-1 (AUDIO)

USC won the opener of an SEC series for the third time in three tries taking down Missouri 4-1 in Columbia, MO Friday night. It’s the first time the Gamecocks have won a series opener of any kind since beating Georgia Washington February 25th.

The story for the Gamecocks was two-fold. Josiah Sightler hit a pair of home runs and drove in three, and Noah Hall earned his first win as a Gamecocks after four defeats by allowing three hits and one run over seven innings. Cade Austin earned his second save by allowing two hits over the final two innings.

Kevin Madden accounted for the Gamecocks’ fourth run with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Sightler with three hits and Madden with two accounted for five of the Gamecocks’ six hits.

The Gamecocks are 13-12 and 3-4 in the SEC, and the Tigers are 15-8 and 1-6. Game two of the series will be Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
