
Clemson stumbled out of the games in the ACC season losing four of their first five games. The Tigers let out their frustrations on NC State Friday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to the tune of 14-3. The Tigers built an 11-0 lead through the first four innings to put this one in the win column early.
The Tigers scored all those runs in the first four innings with the benefit of just one extra base hit. The Tigers scored their runs with six singles, an RBI double, two ground outs, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
The Tigers pounded out 16 hits for the game, 15 of them singles, drew 11 walks and were hit twice. Benjamin Caldwell and Caden Grice each had three hits, and Grice also walked twice.
Starter Matt Anglin (4-2) allowed three hits and three walks over five innings while striking out eight. The four relievers who worked behind him allowed four hits and the two Wolfpack runs.
Clemson is now 18-7 overall and 2-4 in the ACC. State is 16-9 and 4-5. Game two of the series will be Saturday at 6:00 PM.
