SAF Kennedy Green (6-2, 195) of Douglasville, GA, already knew a lot about South Carolina and had built strong relationships with the coaches before his official visit at the start of this month. After spending that weekend in Columbia, his already strong feelings for the Gamecocks were reinforced.
“I definitely liked it. I was able to spend a lot of time with the players, which I usually don’t get to do.” Green said recently. “I was able to spend a lot of time with the players and see life outside of football and outside of the facility. They’re all together as a team, which is definitely something that I liked when I was up there.”
USC secondary coach Torrian Gray has been the primary recruiter of Green, and would be his position coach if he joins the Gamecocks. He gave Green a lot of information on how he would be used.
“Very in-depth,” Green said of the conversations. “He likes me to play around a little bit everywhere. He wants me to learn and see everything so he can see where I fit. Also, he showed me how he wants me to come in and be one of those guys that can step up, lead, and, eventually, end up making my way on the field starting as a true freshman.”
Green also had a parting conversation with head coach Shane Beamer as his visit concluded.
“That went well, like always,” Greenn said. “He was on the same thing. He wants me to come in and have that impact as a true freshman. He got to meet a couple more of my family with me, my granddad, and my uncle. He got to meet those guys. And, you know, he just had this vision for me as me just coming in and being that leader, taking on that role as a young guy.”
Green said South Carolina is one of his favorites as he looks ahead to his other official visits. He has Purdue scheduled for May 29th, Vanderbilt on June 5th, Mississippi State, where he was once committed, on June 12th, and Nebraska on June 19th.
Green has set July 11th for his commitment date.
