One of Clemson’s standout receivers early in the camp cycle hails from a familiar location. 2028 wide receiver Barrett Price (6-0, 175) of Hoover (AL) Spain Park held an invite to attend the opening session of Dabo Swinney’s High School Camp. It appears he made the most of the opportunity.
Clemson’s staff has already gained familiarity with Spain Park, having recently signed Brock Bradley, the winningest signal caller in school history. Additionally, the program took a look at 2027 edge rusher Marquis Evans. That recruitment allowed Clemson to get an introduction to Price, who was a teammate of Bradley’s for a season.
When Grisham extended Price an invitation, it was with the caveat that he was going to put the Alabama prospect to the test.
“Coach Grisham contacted me,” Price explained. “He already knew I was a pretty good player. So I think he just put me in that group just to showcase my skills and show why I can be like one of the top dogs in this camp.”
Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisville, Nebraska, and other programs have thrown offers his way, and his performance at camp felt like a chance to validate his recent success.
Reportedly, Price showcased his ability to make sharp cuts in his routes, demonstrating speed and agility that stacked up well against his peers. He also proved to have reliable hands, tracking the ball well, particularly with over-the-shoulder throws that required absolute focus. He appreciated Grisham’s trust, and running with the top group at Clemson’s camp was a special move for him.
“Obviously, getting to work with one of the best wide receiver coaches is special,” he said. “And I’m just thankful Coach Grisham just put me in that group. And I just want to thank him for coaching and just trusting me in that group.”
Not only did Price get to work with Grisham, but he also spent time with Clemson commit Trey Wimbley and received coaching from Bryant Wesco.
“Seeing those guys come out there, the Clemson commit, Trey Wimbley, I know him. We played middle school back home before he moved,” Price reflected. “He’s a great player, so it was really good seeing him out there. And then Bryant Wesco, getting to learn from him and seeing him as an example. That was something special, too.”
As his recruitment continues to gain momentum, Price hopes the Tigers can maintain their position in the picture.
“Clemson really had a good impression,” he confessed. “I definitely will try to get back to a game this fall and definitely visit again because, as I said, Clemson is a great place and I can definitely see myself playing here in a couple of years.”
According to MaxPreps stats, in eight games last season, Price had 21 catches for 293 yards and three touchdowns.
