STRecruiting 6-10: Several Coastal players announce commitments to USC; Clemson in, USC out with Aparicio-Bailey; OL news for USC

Five Coastal Carolina players who had entered the free agent portal made public commitments to South Carolina Tuesday night so that they could join their coach, Kevin Schnall, in Columbia:

  • LHP Hayden Johnson was a junior from Socastee. He missed the entire season with an arm injury. For his career, he’s 8-2 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA. He has 87 strikeouts in 70 innings.
  • LHP Colby Richardson was a freshman this season out of Pee Dee Academy. He made 27 relief appearances and was 4-1 with a 5.10 ERA.
  • RHP Daniel Parker was a freshman from Hartsville and P27 Academy. He made 19 appearances, mostly out of the pen, and was 3-0 with a 4.76 ERA.
  • 3B Walker Mitchell was a junior out of River Bluff whose dad was former USC quarterback Allen Mitchell. He started all 60 games this season and hit .313 with one homer and 54 RBIs. He also was hit a team high 21 times.
  • Catcher Brice Estep, a native of Ft. Mitchell, KY, prepped at P27 Academy before spending three seasons at Coastal. This season, he batted .232 with eight homers and 25 RBIs.

Former South Carolina RHP Zach Russell is headed to Mississippi State.

South Carolina RHP Connor Chicoli and INF Erik Parker are in the free agent portal.

CB Jayden Aparicio-Bailey of Prattville, AL, is down to Clemson and Georgia with a commitment on June 27th. South Carolina was also strongly involved.

OL Caleb Siler of Gunter, TX has canceled his OV to South Carolina this weekend and will visit Texas. He’s down to Texas and Northwestern with a decision on Monday.

South Carolina target OL Stafford Willis of Arab, AL, was offered by Alabama. He has set an official visit to Tuscaloosa for June 19th. He has been to South Carolina, UCLA, Oklahoma State, and Virginia Tech.

South Carolina target OL Alijah Jones committed to Rutgers. He was scheduled for an OV with the Gamecocks this weekend.

One-time South Carolina and Clemson target DE Chaz Gray of Union, NJ, committed to Washington.

2028 RB Michael Martin of Christ Church was offered by Georgia Tech.
