#STRecruiting: Update on WR Corey Rucker

Corey Rucker

Arkansas State transfer WR Corey Rucker has been one of the hot prospects in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He has visited several schools, including USC, and as was previously reported here, he has cut his list to a final two. He has one more visit to make before finalizing his decision for next season.

“Everything is pretty much still the same,” Rucker said.  “I’m staying in Jonesboro this week.  I’m still finishing classes at Arkansas State.  My schedule is free until I go back to Columbia for the spring game.”

USC head coach Shane Beamer and receivers coach Justin Stepp have been working Rucker on the Gamecocks’ behalf. They had him in with his father for an official visit earlier in the month and they have kept up the communication.

“Coach Beamer texts me, and I talk to Coach Stepp every day,” Rucker said.  “Just how I will be implemented in the office.  With Coach Beamer, just checking up on me seeing how I’m doing as a person and how my family is doing.”

Rucker also had contacts and interest from schools like Ole Miss, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Indiana and Texas State. But he’s down to two others from which he’ll make his decision.

“I’m down to two, South Carolina and Utah State,” Rucker said.  “It’s a tight race right now.  I think I’ll be close to making a decision probably mid April.  I probably talk to Utah State every other day.”

Rucker was a Freshman All-American last season at Arkansas State. In two seasons there he caught 75 passes for 1279 yards and 14 touchdowns.
