After being clobbered by Coastal Carolina Tuesday night at home, Clemson got right back on the diamond Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and the result was much different, a 10-2 win over Winthrop. The Tigers scored five runs in the second inning and that was more than enough as Ricky Williams earned his first career win with five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and a walk, and he struck out three.
Every Clemson starter had at least one hit with Tyler Corbitt leading the way with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Cooper Ingle and Bryar Hawkins also drove in two runs each.
The Tigers are 16-5 and the Eagles fall to 5-14. Clemson will open a three-game series at Pitt on Friday.
