Shane Beamer joins #SportsTalk to discuss #Gamecocks spring practice (AUDIO)

Shane Beamer says former OU QB Spencer Rattler has made quite an impression thus far in spring practice

USC football has completed four days of spring practice and one of the most entertaining battles is at quarterback where former Oklahoma star Spencer Rattler is competing to be the starter for the Gamecocks. The reviews have been very positive thus far on the redshirt junior, though USC doesn’t appear quite ready to hand the keys of the offense completely over to the Phoenix, Arizona native. Former starting quarterback Luke Doty is quickly getting back up to speed following surgery on his foot, that cost him the final six games of last year. Doty is certainly in the mix, along with another returnee in Colten Gauthier.

On Tuesday, USC head coach Shane Beamer made the rounds with the media and that included a live visit on SportsTalk. The 2nd year coach talked about how much more comfortable he is entering spring than he was a season ago. He also laid out some of the position battles and progress his team has made thus far. Plus, you knew we couldn’t let him go without getting a comment on his famous “Mayo Bath” following last year’s win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
