The USC football team held its second big scrimmage of the spring this morning inside Williams-Brice Stadium. Coach Shane Beamer said afterwards there were no major injuries from the scrimmage which he said got off to a shaky start with the offense committing penalties and turnovers. But on the flip-slide, he was impressed by his defensive front and the pressure they applied on the offense.

Beamer did express concern about the down-the-field passing game and the lack of explosive plays. He said there was not much improvement in that category in the last week, but he thinks they can improve that in the pre-season practices. He said they are not that far off, just not where they want that to be. Luke Doty continues to get most of the snaps with the first team offense. Beamer said the running game continues to look good this spring.

Beamer said linebackers Sherrod Greene and Mo Kaba and receiver OrTre Smith did not participate but are fine. He also said safety Jaylin Dickerson returned to practice this week.
