The line of succession at the quarterback position at Clemson has brought DJ Uiagalelei to the forefront. Generational quarterbacks have become the norm with the Tigers dating back to the original king of the shotgun, Deshaun Watson. The baton was passed thru Kelly Bryant to Trevor Lawrence, and now its DJ Uiagalelei era at Clemson.
The second year standout from California got his feet wet last season with spot duty, including a pair of starts when Lawrence contracted Covid. He did not disappoint. He passed for 914 yards, 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions while completing 67% of his attempts. So, there’s doubt in the minds of Dabo Swinney and his offensive brass that the football will be in good hands.
This week Uiagalelei held a Zoom session with the media after practice to talk about being the new man in the spotlight with the Clemson offense.
