STRecruiting Notebook 5-10: Beamer has another one coming to USC; Transfer OL plans USC visit; Gamecocks miss on WR

Another commitment is on the way for USC. Friday night, head coach Shane Beamer posted a commitment alert for the 2027 class. The Gamecocks did not have any official visits this weekend, but a few players came out of last week’s official visits very high on USC. Those include SAF Kennedy Green, DE Desmond Malpress, OT Stafford Willis, and RB Brayden Tyson. Any one of those could be considered as the one who made the call to Beamer on Friday night.

South Carolina is showing interest in free-agent OL Vincent Chen (6-8, 328) of Stetson, according to Pete Nakos of On3, with information provided by the player’s agency. The other schools listed were Vanderbilt, Auburn, Virginia, and North Carolina. He reportedly visited Vanderbilt and Auburn during the week, and he has posted that he will visit Vanderbilt again on May 14th. Hale McGranahan of Gamecock247 reported that the agency informed him that Chen will also take a visit to USC next week. Chen started 15 games with the Hatters. He has three years of eligibility remaining. He’s a native of Deland, FL.

South Carolina target WR Iveon Lewis of Richmond committed to Kentucky. He was scheduled for an official visit with the Gamecocks on June 5th.

Clemson target RB Andrew Beard of Bogart, GA committed to Florida on Friday afternoon.

Clemson’s other top running back target, Gary Walker, was offered by LSU.

South Carolina target OL Junior Saunders made his official visit to NC State over the weekend. He is scheduled for USC June 19th.

South Carolina target OT Caleb Siler was offered by Nebraska. He’s taking his official visit to Northwestern this weekend. He is scheduled for USC on June 12th.

WR Julian Caldwell of Argyle, TX, who had an offer from South Carolina, committed to Texas Tech.

DE Andrew Rogers of Greensboro, NC, who has Clemson down for an official visit on June 12th, set one with North Carolina for May 29th.

Irmo RB Tai Phillips was offered by Florida State.

Former Daniel QB Grayson Clary of Rabun Gap, GA was offered by Wisconsin, Charlotte and Duke.

One of the state’s top prospects in 2028, WR Jordan Gorham of Timberland, is transferring to IMG Academy.
