STRecruiting: Clemson is hoping to go two for two in the running back room as the Tigers eye 2027 RB Gary Walker

For those who follow recruiting, all eyes will be on Georgia running back prospect Andrew Beard this Friday as he is expected to announce his college decision. There is growing suspicion in the recruiting world that Florida will be his choice.

Meantime, CJ Spiller and Clemson are hopeful that another talented tailback could be in the fold later this summer.

2027 RB Gary Walker (6-0, 200) of Fairburn, GA will be back on campus for his official visit later this month after having stopped by earlier in the spring for Clemson’s Elite Retreat. The Tigers officially offered Walker during that spring visit, with him already having an official visit scheduled well before an offer was locked down.

Spiller has been courting two serious targets in this cycle, and while one of his top two targets is ready to shut down his recruitment this week, Walker will be a different story.

The Creekside star has five official visits planned, starting with Stanford on May 22. He will then circle back to Clemson (May 29), followed by Virginia Tech (June 5), Penn State (June 12), and finally, Florida State (June 19).

Once he returns to the Upstate, Walker hopes the multi-day stay will allow him to better understand Clemson’s culture.

“I hope to receive more insight into the Clemson way,” Walker said. “There are several other programs that are actively recruiting that are on the OV list and other programs too.”

Walker has prioritized culture, and he hopes to make a decision before the start of his senior campaign.

“It remains important to me for a program to have integrity, a positive culture, and great relationships,” he explained. “I previously posted my OVs on Twitter, and I hope to have a decision prior to the season.”

Clemson is cultivating its connection with Walker, and once the string of visits concludes, the Georgia prospect is looking forward to making a decision and getting back to the gridiron and working on his game.

“The relationship is continuing to develop with the staff,” he senses. “I am excited about summer training with my trainer, Creekside’s Summer Camp, and continuing to sharpen my craft.”

Last season, Walker emerged as one of the top running backs in the country rushing for 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns.
