South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer issued a commitment alert late Wednesday afternoon. A few hours later, that alert was claimed by DT John Archer (6-5 300) of Fayetteville, NC. Archer has been a long-time target of Beamer and defensive tackles coach Travian Robertson having made numerous visits to USC, with his most recent comiong on April 9th.
Archer chose the Gamecocks over Auburn, Florida and NC State, the other schools he had listed on his short list, and the other schools he had scheduled for official visits. He is currently scheduled for his official visit to USC on June 19th.
Archer has played in 38 games in his career and has totaled 210 tackles with 77 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
South Carolina now has four commitments for its 2027 recruiting class.
