RBC Heritage Round 4/Playoff Summary

- Matt Fitzpatrick won his second RBC Heritage on Sunday, defeating Scottie Scheffler with a birdie on the first playoff hole. It’s the fourth PGA Tour win by Fitzpatrick, and he’s now 2-0 in playoffs, both at Harbour Town.
- It was a repeat performance of his 2023 victory when he defeated Jordan Spieth in a one-hole playoff, except this time his approach was with a four-iron compared to a nine-iron three years ago.
- Fitzpatrick began play on Sunday with a three-shot lead on Scheffler. He birdied two of his first three holes and never let anyone within two shots until Scheffler rallied late in the round.
- Scheffler, a former RBC champ, birdied the 15th and 16th holes to cut the lead to one shot.
- He went to the 18th green down by one, but chipped to within a foot and made par for a four under 67, while Fitzpatrick left his chip well short and took a bogey for a 70. The pair finished at -18 and went on to a playoff.
- Playing into a strong wind on the playoff hole, which was the 18th, Fitzgerald hit a beautiful four-iron approach that rolled past the cup by 13 feet.
- Meantime, Scheffler pushed his approach with a six-iron right, some 37 yards off the green. He pitched to within eight feet, but Fitzgerald rolled in his birdie putt for the win.
- Si Woo Kim finished third at -16.
- As for the state contingent: Andrew Novak -9 for T16, Jacob Bridgeman -7 for T33, Lucas Glover -6 for T42, and Brian Campbell +3 for T77.
- Defending champ Justin Thomas had a 66 on Sunday and finished at three over par. 73 golfers finished at even par or better. Michael Kim had the best round of the day on Sunday with a 62.
- Scheffler recorded his 16th straight round under par in 16 trips around Harbour Town. He also moved to #1 in the FedEx Cup standings.
