  • Nate Savoie was the lone bright spot at the plate for the Tigers, as the catcher was 3-for-4 with two solo HRs
  • A night after being held to just two hits in a 10-0 loss to the Yellow Jackets, Clemson rectified the problem early on Friday. The Tigers collected a pair of base hits in the bottom of the first inning but had both Jarren Purify and Tryston McCladdie picked off base to end the inning scoreless.
  • And as they did on Thursday, Georgia Tech struck first with a little power. Vahn Lackey led off the second inning with an HR to left field. Then with one out, Parker Brosius drove a two-run double into left centerfield to give the visitors a 3-0 lead in the second
  • Clemson answered in the bottom of the frame with its first run of the weekend as Jacob Jarrell homered to left field
  • In the fourth, each team plated a run to make the score 4-2. The Yellow Jackets got their run on an RBI single, while Nate Savoie provided the Tigers’ offense with a solo shot down the right field line
  • With the game still in the balance, the Jackets broke it wide open in the 7th. First baseman Kent Schmidt blasted a grand slam over the wall in right centerfield to up Georgia Tech’s advantage to 8-2. The home run was the fifth by the Yellow Jackets in two games versus Clemson and the 13th time this season that GT recorded multiple home runs in a game
  • Each team added a run in the eighth inning to provide the final margin of 9-3 GT. The Yellow Jackets are now 17-2 & 4-1 in the ACC, while Clemson drops to 15-4 overall and 0-2 in the ACC
  • Georgia Tech has now outscored its opponents 48-5 in games played away from home this season
