



Georgia Southern 6 – Clemson 1 Game Summary
- Clemson dug itself an early hole and was unable to string together hits against Georgia Southern pitching in a 6-1 loss in North Augusta, Tuesday.
- After combining for seven runs in the second inning, both clubs were held scoreless the rest of the way. Clemson, ranked 11th by d1baseball.com, plated its lone run on Tyler Lichtenberger’s first homer of the season.
- The Eagles got to Clemson starter Etson Simpson (L, 3-1) and reliever Nathan Dvorsky for a combined six earned runs in the second inning. Simpson was shaky from the outset, stranding two runners in a scoreless first before being tagged for three runs in the second. Dvorsky didn’t fare much better, serving up a three-run homer before being relieved by Noah Samol.
- Samol (3.1 IP, 3 Ks, 0 ER) settled in, holding Georgia Southern scoreless until giving way to Arison Veasey in the top half of the sixth. Veasey, Hayden Simmerson, Brendon Bennett and Landon Fowler threw one scoreless inning, apiece.
- The Tigers lineup had little success against Eagles starter Carter DeGondea (4 IP, ER) and even less against relievers Alex Mason (W, 2-0) and Craig Kalkbrenner. Clemson applied plenty of pressure but stranded seven runners over the last five innings.
- Clemson (15-2) will next open conference play against no. 4 Georgia Tech. First pitch between the Tigers and the Yellow Jackets from Doug Kingsmore Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday.
