The Clemson men and the South Carolina women held their respective spots in the AP Men’s and Women’s Top 25 polls released on Monday, despite impressive wins last week. The Tigers won games at Stanford and Cal, and the Gamecocks had three blowout victories over Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
The Clemson men remain at #20 in the AP. One voter did rank the Tigers as high as 12th, but nine voters left them out of the Top 25 altogether, including national analysts Seth Davis and Jeff Borzello. The state’s AP voter, Scott Hamilton, had the Tigers 18th on his ballot.
Arizona, Michigan, Houston, Duke and Iowa State are the top five teams. Duke is the only ACC team in the top ten. North Carolina is 11th, Virginia is 15th and Louisville is 24th.
Florida, at #14, is the highest ranked SEC team. Vanderbilt is 19th, Arkansas is 21st, and Kentuck is 25th.
The USC women were not ranked higher than third on any ballot this week, and five voters ranked them fourth. The two in-state voters, Michael Sauls and Matt Dowell, both had the Gamecocks at #3.
UConn received all 31 first-place votes with UCLA second. Texas and Vanderbilt complete the top five with LSU, the Gamecocks’ opponent Saturday night in Baton Rouge, coming in at #6.
Also from the SEC, Oklahoma is 9th, Ole Miss is 13th, Kentucky is 19th, and Alabama is 20th.
Louisville is the highest-ranked ACC team at #8. Duke is 12th, and North Carolina is 17th.
