Clemson 77-Cal 55 Game Summary

  • Clemson took its first lead of the game at the 10:41 mark of the first half, 14-13 on a Carter Welling jumper. That was part of a 25-3 run by the Tigers on their way to a 39-20 halftime lead.
  • The Tigers made 10 of their final 15 shots in the first half, including five three-pointers. At the same time, the Bears missed 14 consecutive field goal attempts over twelve-plus minutes. Clemson shot 59% for the half to 24% for Cal. The Tigers also forced nine turnovers.
  • Clemson kept the Bears at bay in the second half. Cal could only get as close as 15 points with 7:24 to play. The Tigers then slammed the door with an 11-2 run for a 70-46 advantage with 4:36 left. RJ Godrey scored seven of his 13 points during that stretch as the Tigers hist six of seven shots.
  • The Tigers shot 52% in the second half to finish at 55% for the game. They hit six more threes in the second half for a 12-26 night from deep. That’s a season high for threes for the Tigers.
  • Three other Tigers scored in double figures, with Ace Buckner tying Godfrey for team scoring honors with 13.
  • The Tigers had 16 assists on their 27 baskets, and had 10 turnovers to 14 for Cal. The Tigers also had nine second-chance points and did not allow any by the Bears. Both had four offensive rebounds.
  • Clemson has now won 14 straight road ACC games. The Tigers are tied for the ACC lead with Duke at 10-1 in the league, and they are 20-4 overall.
  • Clemson will host Virginia Tech on Wednesday night before traveling to Duke on Saturday.
