Clemson 66-Stanford 64 Game Summary
- This game was a dogfight all night, with the biggest lead of the night just seven points. Both teams were aggressive and physical on the defensive end, and that made good offense hard to come by.
- The game was tied at 62 with 3:08 left, and neither team could score for about the next three minutes. We’re talking, ice-cold shooting. Clemson missed its final three shots from the floor and a pair of free throws by RJ Godfrey, while the Cardinal went 0-4 from the floor down the stretch and also missed a pair of free throws.
- Californian Nick Davidson finally broke the scoring drought with a pair of free throws with 23 seconds left for a 64-62 Clemson lead. Ebuka Okorie then missed a three-pointer for Stanford. Ace Buckner grabbed the rebound and was fouled with three seconds left. He made both for a 66-62 lead that offset a layup at the buzzer by Okorie.
- Clemson’s team approach and balance are strengths, and that was clear in this one as nine of the ten Tigers who played scored. Davidson led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds. Buckner added 11 points off the bench, along with three rebounds and two assists.
