STRecruiting Notebook 2-2: South Carolina worked in some visits over the weekend, and added one to the 2026 class; USC hands out 2028 offer; Lamb adds another SEC offer

The winter storm impacted recruiting plans in some areas for the final weekend before the month-long dead period. That included USC. The Gamecocks had plans to host prospects on Saturday and Sunday. A few made it in, but most had to reschedule.

On Sunday, long snapper Matthew Oh of Buford, GA, committed to the Gamecocks after visiting over the weekend. He will sign for the 2026 class on Wednesday, becoming the 17th high school recruit signed by Beamer. He is a first-team Kohl’s Kicking All-American among long snappers. In fact, Kohl’s called him one of the best long snappers to ever come through their camps. Last summer, he charted a .67 second average snap time, with 16 of 19 scoring long snaps through the target. Oh was selected for the Under Armour All-American Game.

Irmo OT Nate Carson, Lucy Beckham OL Ty Johnson, SAF Kennedy Green of Greensboro, GA, ATH Brooks Dow (6-6 210) of Pickens, DE Jaden Wuerth of Dutch Fork, 2028 LB Skylar Alston of Raleigh, and 2028 LB Lavay Penny (6-1 215) of Camden visited South Carolina on Saturday.

Wuerth had planned to go to NC State on Saturday and USC on Sunday, but the weather changed those plans. About the visit with the Gamecocks, Wuerth said,: “Was good, glad I got to see T Rob (Travian Robertson). He is walking around good and looks to be doing a lot better.” And did this visit move the needle a little more towards the Gamecocks? “Not really, still at the top.” Wuerth said he will get back to USC in the spring and will scheduled an official visit.

TE Jake Sneed of Houston postponed his trip to South Carolina until the spring.

South Carolina target OL Adrian Lamb of Beaufort and Georgia Military JC was offered by Auburn on Sunday. He visited there over the weekend. He also has an offer from Alabama. A decision is expected this week.

RB Trey Stewart of Little Rock has cut his list to South Carolina, Arkansas, and Ole Miss per Arkansas Razorback Recruiting Updates. He cut Penn State, Oklahoma and Miami from his previous list. He visited Arkansas over the weekend.

South Carolina offered 2028 DE Cassell Cruickshank (6-6 220) of Fayetteville, NC.He also has offers from Nebraska, Charlotte, Wake Forest, East Carolina and NC State.

South Carolina OL coach Randy Clements visited OL Layton von Brandt of Delaware this week, but Gamecocks did not make his top eight.

Woodruff RB Aiden Gibson said on SportsTalk Friday night he has scheduled an official visit to Florida State for June 26th. He also has officials set in June with Rutgers, South Carolina, Penn State, and Virginia Tech.

South Carolina coaches visited with Byrnes RB Tre Segarra on Friday.

River Bluff WR Darius Carter visited Virginia Tech for a junior day over the weekend.

WR Amare Patterson of Ridgeland/Bluffton High visited Georgia on Saturday.

South Carolina target DE Chris Whitehead of Chesterfield, VA has set an official visit to Virginia Tech for May 29th.

South Carolina target LB Kareem Palmer was offered by Florida State.

RB Tai Phillips (5-11 180) is transferring to Irmo from Fayetteville, NC. He has offers from Alabama, Duke, NC State, Ohio State, Wake Forest and others. He rushed for 919 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
