Clemson edged ahead by two spots in the new AP Men’s Top 25 released on Monday afternoon. The Tigers, who had just one game during the week, a win at home over Pitt on Saturday, advanced from #22 to #20 in the latest poll of 59 basketball reporters across the country.
Clemson is one of five ACC teams in the Top 25. Duke is #4, North Carolina is #14, Virginia is #18, and Louisville is #24. The Tigers play at Duke on February 14th, host Louisville on February 28th, and play at North Carolina on March 3rd.
Arizona remains #1 with Michigan moving up a spot to #2. UConn slipped one to third and is followed by Duke and Illinois in the top five.
Vanderbilt is the highest-ranked SEC team at #15. Florida is #17, Arkansas is #21, and Tennessee is #25.
The USC Women remain at #3 behind UConn and UCLA. The Huskies received all 31 first-place votes. The Gamecocks scored lopsided wins last week over Vanderbilt and Auburn. They are 21-2 going into tonight’s game at Texas A&M.
Texas and LSU complete the top five. There are nine SEC teams in the top 25 this week after Georgia dropped out after losing to Alabama on Thursday.
