The first free agent signing for South Carolina is former Oklahoma WR Jayden Gibson (6-5 197). Gibson, who visited Columbia over the weekend, made his commitment announcement via Hayes Fawcett on Sunday night. Wisconsin was also mentioned with him when he entered the Portal.
Gibson is a native of Apopka, FL, who signed with the Sooners in 2024 over Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and others. He also had an offer from then USC receivers coach Justin Stepp. He missed all of the 2024 season and the early part of this season with a knee injury. He later left the Oklahoma program before playing in any games this season.
Gibson played in 22 games, starting one, in his first two seasons in Norman. He had 15 catches for 387 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 26 yards per catch.
