South Pointe wins the 4A State Championship

  • South Pointe won its 8th state championship in nine appearances in the final game
  • South Pointe coach Bobby Collins played at SC State and won his first state title in the stadium where he once played
  • The Stallions led 21-0 at the half, and went up 28-0 early in the third quarter before the Bruins scored back to back touchdowns to make it 28-14
  • South Pointe knocked in a final touchdown with 4:54 to play to ice the win
  • South Pointe outgained South Florence 334-113, with 316 yards coming on the ground.
  • RJ Brown rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns, and J’Zavien Currence rushed for 124 yards and two scores
  • South Pointe defense came up with three interceptions, two by Kaiden Watkins
