COLONIAL LIFE ARENA: Red hot shooting led to a 47 point second half, and South Carolina blitzed Radford 87-58 Tuesday night in Columbia.

The Gamecocks actually got dialed in late in the first half making seven of their last ten shots for a 40-25 lead at halftime. They continued ripping the nets in the second half making 13 of their first 18 shots from the floor as they built the lead to 73-46.

The Gamecocks finished with a 58% shooting night, their best ever under Lamont Paris, and their best shooting night since a December 22, 2021 win over Army.

The Gamecocks did not lean on the three point shot. They were 7-25 from deep, their fewest number of made threes this season.

Where they were highly effective was in the paint outscoring the Highlanders 48-16. And the Gamecocks passed the ball well with 22 assists on their 34 buckets.

The bench was big as well with the Gamecocks getting 50 points from their non-starters. Elijah Strong led USC in scoring with 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Eli Ellis added 14 points off the bench in 27 minutes.

Starting guard Mike Sharavjamts recorded the team’s first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. And senior forward Myles Stute, who scored nine points, crossed the 1000 point mark for his career which began at Vanderbilt.

The game was part of the Greenbrier Tip-Off which will continue Friday in White Sulphur Springs, WV with the Gamecocks facing Butler at 2:00 PM on Friday. They will take on Northwestern on Sunday at 5:00 PM.
