Talk about your Friday news dump! After winning the Southern Conference men’s basketball tournament this past March and earning a berth to the NCAA tournament, Wofford College has made a change in the leadership of its program. The Field of 68 co-founder Jeff Goodman was the first to report the story on Friday morning.

The official announcement from the college came on Friday afternoon.

Wofford College today announced a change in the leadership of its men’s basketball program. Head coach Dwight Perry and associate head coach Tysor Anderson will no longer lead the team. Assistant coach Drew Gibson, a 2008 Wofford graduate, has been named interim head coach and will guide the program during the transition to new leadership.

Perry was 48-43 in two and a half seasons with the Terriers, winning 19 games this past season. Wofford swept through the Southern Conference tournament before falling to Tennessee in the NCAA tournament. He took over as Wofford’s interim coach in December of 2022, when head coach Jay McAuley took a leave of absence from the program. Wofford ultimately elevated Perry to head coach following the 2022-23 season.

Wofford tips off this season on November 15th at Bellarmine as part of the SoCon/ASUN Challenge.
