While the majority of the college baseball world’s attention is on Omaha, Nebraska, today, the Gamecocks and Tigers were more focused on the transfer portal. On the credit side, Florida right-handed pitcher Alex Philpott committed to South Carolina via his social media accounts. In two seasons with the Gators, Philpott posted a 5-6 record with a 7.12 ERA in 67 innings of work.
Mainly pitching out of the bullpen, Philpott did make three starts in each season at Florida. In 2025, he went 3-4 in 22 appearances with three starts and had a 7.30 ERA in 37 innings. He struck out 44 batters and walked 18, with opponents hitting .281 against him this year. He also had two saves on the mound.
Philpott, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, becomes the seventh pitcher to transfer to South Carolina and the 11th player to join the team out of the portal.

Now to the debit side: rising sophomore outfielder/left-handed pitcher TP Wentworth of Clemson has reportedly entered the transfer portal.
Wentworth appeared in 35 games for the Tigers this past season, hitting .220 in 50 at-bats with seven RBIs, three doubles, and eight walks. He also made 11 appearances on the mound with an ERA of 8.00 in nine innings of work. He recorded eight strikeouts with five walks on the mound.
The transfer portal opened on Monday, June 2, and will remain open until July 1 for all players.
