South Carolina offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley is still trying to build his group for the 2026 class. He’s also looking to the future with plenty of offers out to 2027 and 2028 prospects. One of those newly offered this week was 2028 OT Isaiah Whitehead (6-5 315) of Chesterfield, VA.
“The conversation was pretty good talking about life after football and what the program can do for me and my brother,” Whitehead said. “Getting the offer from Gamecocks meant a lot to me knowing that they want me in their program. It is a blessing trying to make their team the best team around.”
Whitehead’s brother Chris (6-5 210) is a highly recruited 2027 defensive end who was offered by the Gamecocks earlier this month. Sterling Lucas is recruiting him for USC. Teasley’s focus is on the younger Whitehead and what he might bring to the program in a few years.
“The conversation wasn’t really that long for him to get into full detail about what he likes about me, but he did say he loves my size and feet,” Whitehead said. “Having my size and good feet can help in so many ways, giving the quarterback enough time to get the ball out, and pushing the defensive line back so the running back can get through.”
Whitehead also has offers from Florida, Penn State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, NC State, Florida State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and SMU, and it’s still very early in the recruiting process for him.
“South Carolina is definitely now in my top five out of all the offers I have,” Whitehead said. “I am going to Tennessee June 1st for a camp.”
This spring Whitehead has visited Notre Dame and Ohio State.
