STRecruiting: OT Desmond Green shares the latest on Clemson and South Carolina, and reveals more spring visits

Desmond Green

The spring tour of contending schools for OT Desmond Green of Timberland will continue into early April. Green said he plans to visit Georgia this Saturday, Oklahoma the following Saturday and North Carolina on April 4th.

Green visited Florida last weekend. Before that, he was at Clemson for the Elite Retreat where he drew the strong attention of Dabo Swinney and offensive line coach Matt Luke.

“Overall, it was a great day,” Green said.  “I got to learn a lot about Clemson and how their student-athletes focus on life after football while they are there playing football.  They’re preparing them for life afterwards.  Also, I learned about how much Coach Sweeney takes pride in his program.”

Green said he saw in Clemson a lot of what he’s looking for in his college home.

“I told them that one of the main things that I’m looking for when I make my decision is being surrounded by good people,” Green said.  “They pride themselves on being good people all the time.  It’s obvious when you see it when you walk around the facility.  Everybody is happy.  Right now, I’ve got four final schools in my mind.  I can’t tell you who they are, but they are up there in my final four.”

So is South Carolina, though Green said he’s not heard as much from the Gamecocks in the last couple of weeks. But he’s not writing off the Gamecocks and still has strong feelings for them.

“Nothing has changed,” Green said.  “As long as that feeling is the same, nothing has changed.”

Green has not scheduled a spring visit to USC but said he’s looking to do so for either a practice or the spring game April 18th.

Green has official visits set with Virginia Tech, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida and USC. He said he does not yet have a firm commitment date but he’s looking at a day in July after his official visits, and no later than early August.
