OT Carter Scruggs (6-6 290) of Leesburg, VA is highly interested in Clemson. He was offered by the Tigers last year and visited for their home opener last season. Coaches from Michigan, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Maryland have been in for visits this month, and he’s expecting Clemson offensive line coach Matt Luke to visit on Thursday.

“We’ve been in contact a lot, calling and texting a lot,” Scruggs said.  “They’ve obviously made sure that I know I’m a priority for them.  The’ll be down here Thursday.  I have a lot of interest in Clemson.  They are going to be a top school for me.  They’ll definitely be a contender for my commitment.”

Scruggs plans to attend the Clemson junior day on March 8th. He is also set for an official visit with the Tigers the first weekend in June.

South Carolina also offered Scruggs last year but his contact from the Gamecocks has cooled in recent weeks.

“I’m still interested in the program,” Scruggs said.  “I love what they’re doing, what Coach (Shane) Beamer is doing.  I would just like to be in contact with them a little more.”

Scruggs said he’s still figuring out the dates for his other official visits in June. He plans to make his decision after his official visits.

Some of his other offers include Maryland, Missouri, Oregon, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Syracuse, Penn State, Virginia, Duke, Indiana, Pitt, West Virginia, East Carolina and Marshall.
