College recruiters hit the road this week and one in-state prospect drawing in the coaches is OT Zyon Guiles (6-5 290) of Carvers Bay. The first in to see him to start the week was Clemson offensive line coach Matt Luke.
“He flew in. I was his first stop of the contact period, which is amazing,” Guiles said. “We sat down, and we talked about my role and how I would fit their scheme, how much of a player and how much I mean to them. He visited my mom’s business, which is also amazing. He just sat down and talked about making the right decision not only for the moment but for your lifetime.”
Guiles has been up to Clemson several times and the Tigers have been recruiting him hard.
“They are definitely always high on my list, mainly because they are close to home and how much they’ve meant to me since I’ve been a kid,” Guiles said. “They are good at developing players. They are always high on my list.”
USC offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley made his visit to Guiles Wednesday.
“It was basically along the same lines as Coach Matt Luke,” he said. “He basically told me how much of a player and how much of an athlete I am, and how I can be developed to be more than just an athlete. “I can be a vital key point to their offense. We’re building that relationship better and better.”
Like Clemson, Guiles has been a frequent visitor to USC and the Gamecocks have made him a priority as well.
“They are also very high on my list,” Guiles said. “Being able to stay close to home is always great. South Carolina is good at developing players also. Coach Shane Beamer is a good guy.”
Guiles said the offensive line coach from Auburn has also been in this week, and he’s expecting a visit from Georgia Thursday morning and one from Tennessee soon.
He has not scheduled any junior day visits thus far, but Guiles said he plans to make visits with USC, Clemson, Auburn, Florida and Tennessee at this point.
