Recruiting Notebook 1-8: South Carolina offered 2027 in-state running back; Clemson coaches checking in-state talent

South Carolina offered 2027 RB David Segarra III (5-10 200) of Byrnes on Wednesday. Georgia, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech and UCF have also offered.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney and OL coach Matt Luke visited Timberland OT Desmond Green on Wednesday. Luke made a visit to Carvers Bay on Tuesday to visit with OT Zyon Guiles.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Tuesday night that former Maryland and NC State QB MJ Morris is expected to transfer to Coastal Carolina. Morris was a backup at Maryland this season. In 2023 he started seven games for State. In 16 games over three seasons, Morris has thrown for 1717 yards with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Transfer DT Tavian Coleman of UTSA, who was offered last week by USC, is expected to sign with Colorado according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

South Carolina offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Shula bet on Tuesday with QB Jared Curtis of Nashville according to Steve Wiltfong of On3. Coaches from Auburn, Georgia, Oregon and Alabama are also due in this week. Ohio State and Ole Miss are also strong contenders. Curtis has junior day visits set with Georgia and Alabama.

Clemson safeties coach Mickey Conn was at Dorman High School Tuesday and visited safety Kentavion Anderson. .

Former Clemson WR Troy Stellato signed with Kentucky according to Pete Nakos of 247Sports.
