Shane Beamer and Dabo Swinney couldn’t both win the Palmetto Bowl, but their holiday wishes may include the same item. It appears that both the Gamecocks and Tigers will be losing a top threat in the passing game to the transfer portal.
On Thursday, JC Shurburtt of The Big Spur website reported to his readers that Antwane “Juice” Wells intends to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.
Wells missed the majority of the 2023 season after suffering a foot injury during preseason and only played in three games. In those games, the Virginia native caught three passes for 37 yards and one touchdown.
Shurburtt’s report comes ten days after Wells sent out a somewhat non-committal tweet in which he said he was planning to play again in 2024 but didn’t confirm it would be with the Gamecocks.
Also Thursday, Clemson wide receiver Beaux Collins announced that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal.
The junior from Los Angeles started twenty-seven career games for the Tigers, with 91 receptions for 1,290 yards and 11 touchdowns. His biggest game this past season was against Charleston Southern, as Collins caught seven balls for 137 yards with a receiving TD in Clemson’s 66-17 win over the Bucs. He missed the matchup with South Carolina due to a tear in his plantar fascia.
