#ACCKickoff: Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley and players (OL) Zion Jackson, (DE) Marcus Valdez and QB Phil Jurkovec (AUDIO)

Jeff Hafley says he’s looking forward to crowds returning for the fall. Not a fan of the “Cardboard Cut Outs” (Maggie Boulton/ACC)

Key Stats for BC: 6-5 last year with no bowl appearance. Returning 9 starters on offense and 8 on defense. 2nd year head coach Jeff Hafley brings a wealth of NFL experience to Boston College having served as an assistant with the Bucs, Browns, and 49ers before coaching at Ohio State in 2019.

Offensively, the Eagles finished 11th in the ACC in total offense (386 ypg) and 11th in scoring (28 ppg) last year. Quarterback Phil Jurkovec threw for over 2,500 yards in the fall after transferring from Notre Dame. Those numbers were the most in BC history by any quarterback through ten starts. He was also the first player in the program to total four, 300-yard passing games in his first five career starts at quarterback and the first BC quarterback with four or more 300-yard games in a season since Matt Ryan (2007).

Defensively, BC finished in the middle of the pack, allowing 417 yards per game, while giving up 28 points an outing.

The Eagles open the season on September 4th at home versus FCS opponent Colgate. Boston College travels to Clemson on October 2nd.
