New Gamecocks head football coach Shane Beamer will take over a roster void of two 2020 standouts as both wide receiver Shi Smith and linebacker Ernest Jones have declared for the NFL Draft. Smith was a key cog in the offense, leading South Carolina with 57 receptions for 633 yards in nine games. On the other side of the ball, Jones was the Gamecocks most consistent performer, leading the team with 86 tackles after pacing the defense with 97 stops a year ago.
