Shane Beamer returned to Columbia Sunday, and Monday he was officially introduced as the 36th head coach of the USC football team. Beamer expressed confidence he will build a successful, championship level program with the Gamecocks. He thanked all involved in his career and cited all the former players who contacted him during the process. Beamer delivered his introductory comments for an extended period, then he took questions from the media for more than 40 minutes. He does plan to return to Oklahoma later on Tuesday to continue his work with the Sooners for the next two weeks while also maintaining his duties as the Gamecocks’ new head coach. Beamer is expected to receive a five year contract at $2.75 million dollars per season.
