USC football coach Will Muschamp Monday tweeted out a pair of his #SpursUp commitment alerts. One was determined to be for SAF Jayden Johnson of Cedartown, GA. The second one was unidentified at the point of tweet. But Wednesday OL Jordan Davis (6-6 290) of Fairburn, GA refealed that tweet was for him as he announced a commitment to the Gamecocks. He’s the first offensive lineman to commit for the 2021 class.
“It feels, good it feels good,” Davis said. “I really like what they have going on and I’m happy to be a part of it. I really like the atmosphere there. I plan to visit once the dead period is over.”
Davis said he’s also excited about the chance to learn and grow under offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
“Opportunity to step a level up because I know he’s a really good coach,” Davis said. “My strength is my pass protection, and I’m very mobile. I can get around.”
The Gamecocks are the only SEC offer for Davis. He also has Georgia Tech and Kansas as Power 5 offers. He also has offers from Southern, Southeast Missouri, Murray State, Akron and Memphis.
Davis is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports. The Gamecocks have nine commitments for the 2021 class. They have only one senior offensive lineman but have four in the junior class.
