#STRecruiting: Nesbit hearing plenty from #Gamecocks

Bryson Nesbit

Three-star TE Bryson Nesbit (6-6 220) of Charlotte is a major USC target and he has the Gamecocks in his top 13. His list was cut by one after Northwestern got a tight end commitment. He hears a lot from Will Muschamp, Mike Bobo, Bobby Bentley and Joe Cox from the USC staff, and that includes a conference call with the coaches on Tuesday.

“I’m in constant communication with them,”  Nesbit said.  “I talked to all of the coaches, Bobo, Muschamp, Bentley and Coach Cox.  Coach Bentley is my lead recruiter and Coach Cox, after being moved from the tight ends to receivers, I still talk to him twice every week or so.  This was just really a check-in but I have Zoomed with them before.  I’ve sat in the tight end room and seen some tight end film.”

Nesbit added that the message from the Gamecocks has been clear and consistent.

“That they are really excited about me,” Nesbit said.  “I’m their guy.  They really want me to come and feel like I would be a good fit in the passing game and the rushing game with my blocking.”

Nesbit, of course, has strong ties to the program thru his dad, former Gamecock standout offensive lineman Jamar Nesbit. There can be additional pressure in the recruiting process when a prospect is a legacy recruit, but Nesbit said he’s feeling no such pressure as it relates to the Gamecocks and his family’s history with them.

“Obviously I’ve grown up around the Gamecocks, I’ve been to the stadium mulitple times and all that stuff,” Nesbit said.  “My parents just want the best fit for me.  He (his dad) definitely sits down with me.  He’s gone thru it before.  He tries to guide me thru it a little.  He really treats them just like anybody else.  It was the perfect fit for him, but he understands it might not be the perfect fit for me.  He really just wants the best decision for me. “I’m still pretty wide open. I’m still taking in offers (UCLA the latest).  I’m probably going to start cutting down schools soon.”

Nesbit said he’s hearing from all of his top 13 schools regularly and no one school or group of schools have emerged as favorites. The others on his short list are NC State, Indiana, Michigan State, Duke, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Rutgers, LSU and North Carolina. He won’t make a decision until his season or after it’s completed, and he will be in a position to graduate early if he chooses to do so.

In the 247Sports Composite, Nesbit is rated as a three-star prospect and is ranked 17th nationally among tight ends and the #22 prospect in North Carolina.
