Clemson took the next step in recruiting a quarterback for the 2021 class Tuesday with an offer to 4-star Christian Veilleux (6-4 190) of Ontario. He attends the Bullis School in Potomac, MD. The Tigers also have offered 5-star quarterback Caleb Williams of Washington, DC and are included in his final five along with Oklahoma, Penn State, Maryland and LSU. The Tigers also have had interest in QB Kyle Drones of Houston but have not offered.
Veilleux visited Clemson in January. He’s also been to Penn State multiple times, including camp. And he also visited Tennessee and Duke in January. He had planned another visit to Clemson in late March until visits were stopped due to the Covid-19 situation.
Following the January visit, Veilleux said he learned a lot about the program and the school and left with a good feel for what was available for him there.
“It was a good visit,” Veilleux said. “I spent a lot of time with Coach (Brandon) Streeter and a lot of people surrounding the quarterback position. I went thru the facilities and the campus and saw the academic support. It was a great visit. The facilities stood out. Those are amazing. Something else that stood out was the academics, just how good academically Clemson is. I didn’t know that before hand. That’s really what I took away from that visit is that Clemson is real competitive in the classroom as well.”
Veilleux is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the #15 pro-style quarterback in the country for the 2021 class. He’s ranked as the #13 prospect in Maryland. Last season he passed for 1700 yards and 17 touchdowns, and he rushed for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.
