USC matched a school record with 16 three-three pointers and Chris Silva had 22 points and 14 rebounds for his 23rd career double-double, and the Gamecocks rallied in the second half for a 84-77 win over Texas A&M at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks improved their record to 13-12 overall and 8-4 in the SEC. With the win, the Gamecocks will hold on to at least a share of fourth place in the SEC.
The Gamecocks trailed by 13 in the first half and by seven at halftime. A three pointer by Tre Campbell with 9:36 to play gave them the lead for good, and eventually the lead grew to 11. Four of the Gamecocks’ last five baskets were three-pointers.
AJ Lawson led the three-point barrage with a career high of six. He finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Hassani Gravett, who sported a new-look haircut, minus much of his blonde locks, hit 4 three-pointers and had 18 points off the bench.
The Gamecocks are back home Tuesday night to face Ole Miss, the team they are battling with for fourth place in the league.
